Highly personalized service

The store has a lively vibe with a comfortable setting. When you enter Allegro, you will always be greeted with friendly, dedicated staff who are professional musicians. We'll take the time to answer your questions and chat with you so that you can make the most informed decision on how to make music a part of your life, whether it's learning your instrument, a rental, repair, or purchase.

We are celebrating our 50th Anniversary!

In the winter of 1971, an enterprising fellow named Joe Gillon opened Allegro Music in the basement of our current location. He built two teaching rooms at the back of the Cavalier Barber Shop, taught some guitar lessons and rented out a few Yamaha guitars. In 1975, Joe moved Allegro Music upstairs to its current location.

In 1983, Herman Mallinger bought the store. He taught violin and woodwinds, and his daughter Rosyl instructed piano.

After spending 20 years as an Allegro Music employee, Frank Cretaro decided it was time for a change. So when Herman put the store up for sale, Frank seized the opportunity to become the third owner of Allegro Music. From our humble beginnings, we have grown into one of Toronto's most respected music schools and retail stores.

Your musical journey begins here!
