1971
An
enterprising guitarist named Joe Gillon opened Allegro
Music in the basement of our current location. He built
two teaching rooms at the back of the Cavalier Barber
Shop, taught some music lessons and rented out a few
Yamaha guitars.
1975
As student enrollment grew, Joe moved Allegro Music upstairs
to street level.
1983
Herman Mallinger bought
the store. He taught violin and woodwinds, and his
daughter Rosyl instructed piano.
1997
After spending 20 years as an
Allegro Music employee, Frank Cretaro decided it was time
for a change. So when Herman put the store up for sale,
Frank seized the opportunity and became the third owner.
Today
From our humble beginnings, we
have grown into one of Toronto's most respected music
schools and retail stores.
