Stentor Student II
violin and viola outfit

This Stentor II is for the serious and continuing student. It is a greatly enhanced instrument, unmatched in its class, with features usually found on higher-priced instruments. The fingerboard and fittings (pegs, nut, saddle) are solid ebony, which ensures stability and a longer life for the instrument. Real ebony is more expensive than wood that has been stained black. The improvement in playing quality is tremendous and teachers have welcomed this model with great enthusiasm.

Features:

All Stentor Student instruments are crafted from carved solid wood, which is an indication of quality. Carved solid wood allows for the top and back to actually be "tuned" to a pitch, which increases the resonance of the instrument -- it gives a much better sound! Many student instruments are made of pressed timber which has a short useable life.

  • machine-carved solid spruce front, maple back and ribs.

  • individual hand shaping and finishing

  • solid ebony fingerboard and tuning pegs. This upgrade to ebony is a bit hit with students and teachers!

  • alloy tailpiece with 4 built-in fine tuners assure stable, trouble-free tuning

  • adjustable nylon tailgut

  • steel rope-core strings, which tend to stay in tune longer than other string types -- great for students.

The outfit also includes:

  • good student-quality wooden bow with natural horsehair. The frog is ebony, which is unusual for an instrument in this price range.

  • lightweight, shaped, red canvas-covered case with carry handle and shoulder strap. It has clips for the bow, a full-length music pocket and an accessory compartment.

  • box of rosin
