This is the most basic entry-level violin for the absolute beginner. It's very affordable and meant for the person who wants to spend the lowest amount on a first instrument. Unlike many other economy-level instruments, this violin represents amazing value.

Features:

All Stentor Student instruments are crafted from carved solid wood, which is an indication of quality. Carved solid wood allows for the top and back to actually be "tuned" to a pitch, which increases the resonance of the instrument -- it gives a much better sound! Many beginner instruments are made of pressed timber which has a short useable life.

• stained black hardwood fingerboard

• stained black hardwood tuning pegs

• alloy tailpiece with 4 built-in fine tuners assure stable, trouble-free tuning

• steel rope-core strings, which tend to stay in tune longer than other string types -- great for beginners.

The outfit also includes:

• good student-quality wood bow with natural horsehair. The frog is ebony, which is unusual for an instrument in this price range.

• lightweight, shaped, green canvas-covered case with carry handle and shoulder strap. It has clips for the bow, and a full-length music pocket.

• box of rosin

It is available in sizes 1/16, 1/10, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full size.

Note: the viola is not available in the Student Standard model.
