Student Responsibilities
-
Attendance is crucial
to learn to play an instrument successfully. Commit to your weekly
lesson.
-
Bring your own
instrument to the lesson (except for keyboard and drums).
-
Bring your method book(s) and dictation book.
-
Arrive at your lesson on time. Students who
arrive late do not receive the benefits of an entire lesson.
-
Do NOT eat, drink, or chew gum in the
in-store lesson waiting room or studios.
-
Have fun making music.
Keep a positive attitude.
-
Practice daily! Eventually, you will no longer feel like you are
"practicing" -- you'll be playing because you love it!
Parent Responsibilities
The parent’s attitude and involvement are vital to a child’s success
in music.
-
Your child must practise without interruption and attend lessons
regularly.
Good habits encourage success, and well-placed praise helps them continue.
-
Children learn valuable
lessons in perseverance, self-discipline, and time management. If your child encounters
difficulties learning or practicing, please let your instructor know. Communication is
essential, and the instructors are committed to helping their students and parents.
-
Encourage your child to participate in music classes, choir,
band, or orchestra at school. These are
wonderful opportunities
for them to sharpen their musical skills and learn teamwork.
-
Expose your child to a variety of musical experiences. Listen to music together
at home, attend concerts, music festivals, and participate in community music events.
- Provide your child with regular opportunities to play music with and for family
and friends in a relaxed setting.
