Portable keyboards are highly
suitable for numerous educational applications. They are light,
compact, and easily moved from room to room. Each includes a
built-in metronome and at
least one headphone jack so a student can play or
practice in complete privacy. When connected to a computer, they offer an inexpensive option for a classroom
music lab.
Learning to play is incredibly fun
and easy!
Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.)
This is a standard set of tutorial features found
in Yamaha's entry- to mid-level portable keyboards. They
aren't step-by-step lessons, but if you are already
under instruction, it's a great way to practice and get
instant feedback.
The keyboard has a number of built-in songs
for you to learn to
play using the Yamaha Education Suite.
Some models have more
songs on an included CD-ROM. The songs are separated
into left and right hand parts, providing up to seven
levels of lessons depending on the keyboard model.
There's also a Chord Dictionary that allows you to
specify just about any chord in any inversion, showing
you the notes onscreen and giving you a cute ding-dong
sound when you hit the correct keys.
And for a different approach to learning with the
Y.E.S., try Yamaha's EZ portable keyboards -- just
follow the lighted keys!
